I left my corporate job and have been spending the past months figuring out my new identity. Ha! This has proven harder than I thought it would be!
Who am I outside of a structured 9-5 job that continually sucked all my creative energy and kept me on the never ending hamster wheel of whatever whim the leader of the month had in mind - efficiency studies, mindless meetings that never seemed to accomplish anything, consistent requests for the same data to be provided over and over again but never reviewed or used for actual results.
Do I sound jaded? Sorry, yes, I think I was. Definitely during the last 2 years. I had to leave, the change had to be made for my soul to recover and give me a chance to shake the stagnant air.
I made the change in June and I’m finally, just now.. in the end of September beginning to feel “myself” come back. The bud of “me” is there but I need to nurture it.
I am thankful for many of the people I’ve met from all over the country as I’ve worked in this arena. Because of this job history I’ve also learned skills that I will carry with me into my next chapters. I’m committed to keeping up with technology and using it for my personal endeavors whatever they may be as I go forward.
There was such an immense sense of relief to be done with that work chapter. Since I worked remotely my home was also my “work office”. There was a sense that it belonged to the company and that my time in my own home was monitored. I’m still shaking that sense and am just now able to use our home office room for my own purposes.
The actions I choose next are on my own terms and that feels really good!
